State of the Union Address Calls for More Nuclear, Clean Coal

In recent days, PACE has visited workers at power plants to discuss the impacts of federal climate change legislation on workers and electricity consumers. The workers are members of the Action Committee for Rural Electrification (ACRE), a group deeply concerned about the price impacts of national climate laws on working families and rural electricity consumers.

National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Launches Multimedia Campaign

Today, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) began a TV, radio and Internet advertising campaign warning that Congressional passage of the Waxman-Markey climate-change legislation will dramatically slow economic growth, raise energy costs and destroy jobs. Joining the NAM in this effort are the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the leading small business association representing small and independent businesses, along with several state manufacturing associations in Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Virginia.

Alabama Policy Institute Targets Consequences of Energy Bill

As part of its New Media initiative, the Alabama Policy Institute has launched a new video that focuses on the consequences of energy legislation currently before Congress. In this video, host David Sawyer tackles the pocketbook impact of the Waxman-Markey legislation and interviews nationally-recognized figures such as
Dr. John Christy and Dr. Charles Steele.

Lucas Asks Peterson for Additional Hearings on Cap & Trade

On July 31st, Ranking Member Frank Lucas along with 17 of his Republican colleagues sent a letter to Rep. Collin Peterson, Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, asking him to hold additional hearings on H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act. Lucas’ concerns raise important concerns about the harmful effects of the bill on agriculture. Watch this video to hear Rep. Lucas state his concerns on the House floor.
